Introduction

How to Design and Specify a Custom Fish Transportation Tank

How to design and spec. a fish transportation tank and save yourself some money!

Hello there!
My name is John Hall and I have been asked here to talk about my experiences with Transport Tank Design and Fabrication.
---it says to Insert a non-offensive Joke Here---
Well, that isn’t going to happen!
During this presentation, and unless you ask, I will not be giving out any numbers or formulas. I can talk about that afterwords.
I WILL however, talk about the philosophy, or mind set, that is necessary to help you get what you need and want, and hopefully some of those things that make life a little easier.

There is a common acronym that is very applicable here,
                    -KISS-       Keep It Simple Stupid!
Tank design is not ROCKET SCIENCE,
If you read my biography you will see that I did, indeed,
work in that field for a number of years,
I believe I am qualified to know what the difference is.
A transport tank is just that, a mobile fluid containment vessel!
and in your case we have some foreign materials called fish.

My Job as a Fabricator and Designer is to see that those fish get from point A, to point B, as safely and cost effectively as possible.
I will be showing you what works - and some of the ideas and designs that I had to MAKE WORK!

Some of these tank designs are very simple and relatively easy to fabricate, while others, as you will see, became a very expensive mistake for their designers.
In case you may be familiar with some of this material, It IS necessary to review past designs, in order that you may understand WHAT IS New and Innovative!

At the present time, I am not building any tanks, due to health considerations.
I am designing, consulting, and performing customer requested field-inspections of other fabricators, tanks and designs. I can contract other fabricators to build for you, under my supervision, if that would be your desire, I have several reliable people that I can recommend and have used before.

I have been designing and building transport tanks since 1993, at the time, my company, Hallen Technologies Inc. worked exclusively for a local aquaculture supplier. Because of differences of opinion with these people over costs, prices and quality of product, I left their employ, dissolved my company, and started over independently with direct to customer sales. Today I have complete control of quality and costs and am able to pass the savings on to my customers,
